Canada Violet

Viola canadensis

Brief Description: This plant stands 8-16 inches high. Flowers are born on a leafy stem. The petals are white inside with a yellow base; the outside has a purple tint.

Blooms mostly from April to May.

Geographic Range: From Newfoundland to Alaska and British Columbia, Alabama, Arizona, and Arkansas.

Habitat: Moist woods

Garden Use: One of the largest wild violets; effective in masses.
