NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College athletic program is preparing for a huge weekend of home events. Friday night, the 17-6 Connecticut College volleyball team kicks the weekend off with a 6:00 p.m. match-up against Middlebury College. Two-time All-NESCAC honoree Caitlin Tomaska (Solana Beach, Calif.) leads the Camels with 297 kills and 56 aces. Middlebury and Connecticut College enter the weekend in a third place tie with identical 5-2 records so this should prove to be an interesting match-up for NESCAC volleyball fans. »

3/8/07 Camel Women´s Lacrosse Team Officially Opens Spring Sports Season
The Camel athletic program officially opens the spring sports season Saturday with a NESCAC Women's Lacrosse showdown at high noon. Heather McClelland takes the reigns of the program after spending the 2006 season as interim head coach. Tri-Captain Lindsey Coit '08 tallied 20 goals, 5 assists, 25 points, 37 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers in 2006 and has impressed the coaching staff with her midfield play in the pre-season. The Camel defense will have to contain senior attacker Kate Donoghue (52 goals, 10 assists, 62 points) to keep this game close. 2/1/07 Camels Host Four Athletic Events this Weekend
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College athletic department will host four NESCAC events this weekend. Friday night, the Camel women´s hockey team faces off in a 7:00 p.m. game against intrastate rival Wesleyan. Connecticut College has reached the post-season tournament in two of the past three years and will be looking for a home-ice advantage. Junior forward Jill Mauer has tallied a team-high eight goals for the Camels and will continue to be relied on for offensive production. »

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College athletic program will host five athletic events in New London this weekend. Friday night features an action packed NESCAC double-bill. At 7:00 p.m. the Camel men's hockey team (5-8-1) will host Colby College. Head Coach Jim Ward and the Camels have already pulled off victories against #9 ranked Norwich University and #12 UMass Dartmouth. Freshmen goalie Greg Parker (Trenton, Ont.) has a 4-2-1 record with a .919 save percentage in seven starts between the pipes. »

11/30/06 Hockey Night in New London Kicks Off Busy Weekend for Camel Athletics
Phil Siena is cranking up the Zamboni which can only mean one thing, its game time! Friday night, the NESCAC and the Northeast-10 Conferences collide when Saint Anselm College visits New London for a 7:00 p.m. game. The Camels sent a strong message in their opening weekend, topping Williams College and pushing Middlebury to the limit in a 2-1 defeat. Jake Henry, a senior tri-captain from Winchester, Massachusetts will anchor the Camel defensive corps for head coach Jim Ward. »

11/22/06 Camels Donate 40 Turkeys to the New London Food Bank
NEW LONDON, Conn.--In the spirit of giving, Connecticut College athletic director Fran Shields and the Camel athletic program donated 40 turkeys to the New London Food Bank. The donation was delivered by Associate Athletic Director Ken Kline and Shields to the Broad Street Facility November 17. Janet Pearce, the President of the Southeastern Connecticut Chapter of the United Way graciously accepted the donation. »

NEW LONDON, Conn. --The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2006 Fall All-Academic Team Selections. 25 Connecticut College student-athletes have been recognized for their performance in the classroom. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. »

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Sunday, April 2, the Connecticut College athletic department will host a forum on Women in Coaching and Athletics at 1:00 p.m. in the 1962 room of the Crozier Williams Student Center. The event is being sponsored by the NCAA, the CC Department of Gender and Women's Studies and the CC Department of Athletics. »

3/28/06 Camel Athletics Hosts Seven Events in Final Week of March
The days are getting longer and the Connecticut College spring athletic season kicks into second gear this week as we hit the home stretch in the month of March. Tuesday night, co-captains Sylvia Chen and Cammie Phelps lead the Camel women's water polo team into action against Queens College. The Camels (1-1) topped Utica in an overtime thriller March 11 and will try to tame the Knights in a 7:00 p.m match. »

3/8/06 27 Connecticut College Student Athletes Named to NESCAC All-Academic Team
NEW LONDON, Conn. --The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2006 Winter All-Academic Team Selections. 27 Connecticut College student-athletes have been recognized for their performance in the classroom. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. Second year captain Kate Derr (Old Greenwich, Conn.) led the Camel women's swimming and diving team to a fifth place finish at the NESCAC Championship. Junior Sam Garner (Glendale, Wis.) contributed to a school record in the 800 meter free relay for the CC men's swimming and diving team. Cynthia Whitman (Wynnewood, Pa.) was a starter and captain for the Camel women's squash team that posted 21 wins and finished ranked #15 in the nation. »

11/18/05 Winter Athletic Season Kicks Off Friday Night Thanksgiving Week Will Feature Six Home Athletic Events at CC
New London, Conn.--The Connecticut College athletic program will host six athletic events to open the winter season. The Camel men's hockey team kicks things off Friday night with a NESCAC contest against Williams College at 7:00 p.m in Dayton Arena. Senior co-captains Andrew Clavette and Julian Madden will lead the Camels into competition. Saturday afternoon, the CC athletic program will host an exciting tripleheader. At 1:00 p.m., the Camel men and women's swimming and diving program will battle Middlebury and Tufts at Lott Natatorium. Both programs are coming off their highest finishes at a NESCAC Championship. Kate Derr, Zachary Landry, and Lexie Zukowski will serve as tri-captains for head coach Marc Benvenuti's Camels. »

11/17/05 32 Connecticut College Student Athletes Named to NESCAC All-Academic Team
NEW LONDON, Conn. --The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2005 Fall All-Academic Selections. 32 Connecticut College student-athletes have been recognized for their performance in the classroom. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. Senior Brian Adams garnered All-New England honors for the Camel cross country team. Ashley Kenerson led All NESCAC goalies with 169 saves, helping the CC field hockey team secure its first winning season since 1996. Sarah Whittington and Molly Kawachi served as tri-captains for the Camel volleyball team that won 16 matches and advanced to the conference championship. »

10/7/05 Men and Women´s Soccer Games at Trinity Postponed, Field Hockey to Be Played at Scheduled Time
New London, Conn.--The Connecticut College men and women´s soccer games that were scheduled to be played at Trinity College Saturday morning have been postponed due to the inclement weather forecast for the region. No make-up date has been established at this time. The Connecticut College field hockey game will be played on the Turf as scheduled at eleven o'clock. »

7/15/05 Construction Completed on All-Weather Field for Varsity, Club and Intramural Athletics
Connecticut College varsity lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, intramural and club athletes now can focus on threatening opponents - instead of threatening weather - as the college has recently completed its new all-weather turf field at the Lyn and David Silfen Field behind the college´s Athletic Center. »
